Bertie promo 2

Thank you so much for hosting me today on Writing Dreams. It is always a pleasure to be your guest! I thought it would be fun to introduce you to Steve (he’s a mule) and one of the quirky characters from Bertie – my new sweet romance releasing April 7!

Welcome, Steve. Tell us a little about the farm where you live.

Steve: My owner, Riley Walsh, got the bright idea to sell our place in Kansas and move all the way to Pendleton, Oregon. The new place is a little, um… lackluster. If it isn’t broken, falling apart, covered in rust, overgrown with weeds or in need of repair – you must be on the neighbor’s farm, not ours.

How long have you belonged to Riley?Steve

Steve: Almost ten years. He inherited me when his father passed away. Originally, Riley’s Uncle Steve gave me as a wedding present to his mom and dad. They named me Steve after the uncle. Riley’s a good man and I reckon this move is probably a good thing. He’s happier than I’ve seen him for years.

Why is that, do you suppose?

Steve: (Mule snorts) He’s been working for the neighbors, Garrett and Aundy Nash during the day then trying to make repairs and farm around here mornings and evenings. Riley isn’t the only new hire at Nash’s Folly. Aundy has a pretty lil’ gal named Bertie helping around the house and from what I’ve observed, she’s the reason Riley has a spring in his step.

Is it true you don’t like to be confined?

Steve: Darn tootin’ I don’t like to be confined. How would you like to be run into a corral or pasture with a bunch of hoity-toity horses who constantly look down their long noses at you. There isn’t a fence, gate or stall I can’t get past if I’m of a mind to get out.

Is it also correct that you don’t like women?

Steve: I’m not fond of them in general, and a few I loathe entirely. However, that sweet lil’ Bertie is okay in my book. She knows just how to scratch behind my ears. I wouldn’t be opposed if Riley decides he couldn’t live without her and brings her to our ranch to live.

Anything else you’d like to share today?

Steve: I appreciate the opportunity for this interview and hope you’ll tell my author that I need a bigger, more heroic role in her next story.

PB-Releases

Bertie CoverBertie, the long-awaited sixth book in the Pendleton Petticoats series releases Thursday, April 7!

She needs an adventure —

He needs the warmth of her smile…

Bertie Hawkins survived a traumatic ordeal that stripped away her sunny outlook on life and left her afraid of every shadow. Terrorized and tired of reliving the past, she accepts an offer to change her situation. Although she only intends to work through the summer, the peace she finds at Nash’s Folly keeps her there every bit as much as her interest in a mysterious new ranch hand.

Desperate to escape his memories, Riley Walsh buys a run-down farm in Pendleton, Oregon. To pay for the many necessary repairs, he goes to work for his neighbor, never intending to fall in love with the effervescent girl who helps around the house.

Riley isn’t the only one enchanted with Bertie. His own crazy mule and the neighbor’s son both share his infatuation, driving him past the brink of jealousy.

A sweet romance that embraces the trials and triumphs of yesteryear, Bertie blends laugh-out-loud adventures with heartwarming moments.
