Welcome Wednesdays – “The End”

Welcome Wednesdays – “The End”

Welcome to this week’s edition of Welcome Wednesdays!  I hope y’all are finding new authors to read, and new readers for your books with these weekly questions.

A couple of weeks ago we talked about beginnings – the first book you published.   So today, let’s talk about the last book you’ve published.  Authors, tell us about your most recent book – give us a blurb, an excerpt if you like, tell us anything else we ought to know about it.  And be sure to leave a link so we can buy it!

I’ll begin!  My most recent book came out yesterday.  It’s DREAM WEDDING, the final book of the Dream Series..

Dream Wedding4

It ought to be a joyful time for Dr. Sara Alderson.  Her daughter, Lizzie, is about to graduate college, and marry her longtime boyfriend.  But the family’s happiness is shattered when a drunk driver seriously injures her teenage son in a hit-and-run accident.

Now, instead of planning her daughter’s wedding, Sara must fight to save her son’s life.  And when she discovers who the drunk driver was – someone she thought was a colleague and a friend – she has to fight her desire for revenge.  Because Sara knows she has the power to visit the driver’s dreams, and in those dreams, she holds the power of life and death.

And now it’s your turn!

  1. What a great idea! I absolutely love your covers, by the way. I’ve noticed them for awhile now.

My newest release is Clash (http://www.amazon.com/Clash-Natural-Huntress-Book-1-ebook/dp/B010EDEG16), the first book in my new urban fantasy series. Here’s the blurb:

Phoebe Grayson’s “perfect” life as a normal college student in Manhattan is finally about to begin. After eighteen years of being forced to train as a huntress, she’s ready to live her life on her own terms. And getting a college degree is the only way she can get out of the family business: hunting dark sorcerers.

If only it were that easy.

When a clan of sorcerers shows up in Manhattan, along with a mysterious and sexy stranger who seems to know more about her powers than he should, Phoebe comes face to face with a startling truth–one that uncovers dark secrets about her past and claims that Phoebe’s power could threaten the very city she’s come to love.

Now Phoebe is the number one target for every dark sorcerer in the five boroughs, and the ones who don’t want to usurp her power want her dead. With enemies growing stronger and time running out, Phoebe realizes that the greatest danger is yet to come, and it might just lie within herself…

  3. Thank you so much for the opportunity. Here’s the blurb from my latest book:

    The Scent of Humanity
Lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice. In theory. But in one small town, in one family, that theory is put to the test.

Growing up in a rural town in Massachusetts was supposed to be safe, but for SILVIE CHILDS, that safety was shattered by a kidnapping attempt that forever changed her life. Now, nearly twenty years later, that sense of safety is challenged again by the kidnapping attempt on her young niece, and Silvie is left struggling with one question: How can something like this happen twice in one family?

It is a dilemma shared by NICK FAHEY, the detective assigned to the case. Arriving on the scene of the abduction attempt, Nick expects to run a routine investigation. Until he meets the victim, the niece of a woman he once considered a dear friend. Unfortunately, these days Silvie Childs can barely stand the sight of him.

Once there was a time when Silvie Childs worshipped Nick Fahey, believing he could do no wrong. Until the accident that nearly killed her brother; the accident that Nick reportedly caused. Coming on the heels of her own near abduction, the accident skewed Silvie’s ability to trust men – especially Nick. But now, with the attempt on her niece’s safety, Silvie finds herself in the untenable position of having to trust Nick to bring the kidnapper to justice.

That trust is severely tested when, after only two months, the case is closed for lack of new evidence. Feeling betrayed by the system in which she works as a paralegal and by Nick, Silvie takes matters into her own hands. Contacting local news stations to generate interest in the case, allowing herself to be filmed hanging sketches of the suspect on telephone poles, she will risk her own safety to protect that of her niece. When her efforts re-open the wounds of her past, she is once again forced to put her trust in the one man who still has the power to hurt her – Nick.

  4. Thank you for the invitation, James! My newest release is Murder in White Sands, a cozy, chick-lit mystery.

On the night of her engagement, Rae Lynn Dobbs stumbles across a dead body on the beach of White Sands, Florida. Not only does she recognize the murder victim as one of the retirement-home residents where she serves dinner, but it looks increasingly likely that someone there also killed him.

To her fiancé’s dismay, Rae Lynn launches her own investigation. Between the gossipy widows, the home’s last surviving bachelor, and her coworkers, Rae Lynn doesn’t have any shortage of suspects. But the more she learns, the more it seems anyone could be guilty. And if she doesn’t find out “whodunit” quickly, her fiancé might just become fed up enough to leave.

  5. Thanks for this opportunity, James! My last book also happens to be my first, so I hope that’s okay. It’s a new release, inspired by The Twelve Dancing Princesses. The Kindle version comes out Saturday, October 24, and is available this month for $0.99. The paperback is available now.

    THE FIRETHORN CROWN
Princess Lily, the eldest of twelve sisters and heir to a mighty kingdom, desperately seeks a break from her mother’s matchmaking. Tradition forbids marriage with the man Lily loves, so she would rather rule alone than marry someone who’s only after the crown.

Fleeing an overzealous suitor, Lily stumbles into a secret underground kingdom where she and her sisters encounter a mysterious sorcerer-prince and become entangled in a curse that threatens the safety of her family and her people. Lily can free them, but the price may be more than she’s willing to pay.

The Firethorn Crown, a re-imagining of Grimm’s “The Twelve Dancing Princesses,” is the first novel in the Firethorn Chronicles, a series inspired by fairy tales and other stories. Follow the twelve sisters on their adventures in a land where sorcery is feared, women can rule, and dragons fly.

  6. Thanks for the opportunity to talk about my latest book, the second in the Kadence MacBride Mystery Series: Death of an Island Tart.

    She wanted a reconciliation.
    She got a murder.

Following a breakup of 268 days, 12 hours and 23 minutes, Kadence MacBride has messed up and knows it, so she swallows her pride and makes a surprise visit to the Caribbean to try and reconcile with her boyfriend Terrence.

Unfortunately for her, Terrence has moved on and is about to get married to a hootchie-momma Barbie.

Unfortunately for him, the wedding is called because of death when his bride to be is found strangled. Instead of saying I do, the police believe Terrence did, commit the murder that is. Since suspects on the island are more likely to see the inside of a coffin than a courtroom, Kadence has to help.

They conduct their investigation in the midst of what the tourist bureau deems civil unrest, but plain folks call riots. With no phone, no lights and no motor car, they’re more stranded than Gilligan. On the run, stripped of their tourist status, the real murderer is closing in.

Unfortunately for them, it looks like the only way they’ll ever leave the island will be in a pine box.

If you like an amateur sleuth with attitude, you’ll love Kadence MacBride.

  7. Thanks for the opportunity, very generous! I published my most recent book, Suspect Behavior, about 6 weeks ago. It’s the fourth entry in the Boys in Blue series of novellas. The main characters are police officers: veteran Pete Wry and his rookie trainee, Jim. They deal with a number of silly and serious calls, yet meanwhile manage, through the use of both standard and not-so-standard procedures, to crack a case of international proportions.

The Boys in Blue series also deals with the varied–and lively–love life of Officer Pete Wry. A confirmed and “happy bachelor,” his experience with women is discussed and depicted throughout the series.

  8. Thanks for welcoming us to your site, James!

The first book in my new series, Stockholm Diaries, Caroline, was released this summer: A Swedish pro hockey player with a rough reputation meets an American looking for a taste of adventure in a steamy twist of travel and romance.

The book gives glimpses of a Stockholm summer from the eyes of a North American photographer. When her plans take an unexpected turn – in the form of a former Red Wings player next door – she is forced to evaluate what she wants the most.

Available on Kindle Unlimited (plus regular Kindle and paperback:)
