Welcome Wednesday – Thanksgiving Thanks!
Welcome to this week’s edition of Welcome Wednesdays! And Happy Thanksgiving!
Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day, let’s make today’s theme a simple one – tell us in the comments something you’re grateful for
(and be sure to tell us about one of your books, with a description and link too!)
I’ll begin! I’m grateful for my family, especially having my mother nearby (we moved her into my building, so she’s only two floors away now). I’m thakful for the time I get to spend with her and with everyone else I love.
And now it’s your turn!
(when you’re done here, please stop by Exquisite Quills, where there are daily memes just like this one and plenty of fantastic authors you can discover!)

We lost my mum this year, but I’m grateful that we had her for so long. Also grateful for having such a wonderful family.
I’m currently running a free promotion on my Kindle book: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Y8O520M/
The promotion will end at close of business on Friday.
My book: My book, The Almshouse is a supernatural thriller set in the 1930’s. It follows the story of a little girl as she investigates a decade-old tragedy. The school she went to used to be an almshouse, until the place burned down thirteen years before the start of her story and took with it all the people inside. The main cast consists mostly of ghosts, and they serve as the witnesses that the girl must interview.
What I’m thankful for: Good friends. Up until this week, I never realized how truly wonderful my schoolmates were. When I first set out to write my book, I did it without saying a word about it to any of them. I had heard stories of other aspiring authors being asked how they were planning to get published and whether they aimed to be the next J.K. Rowling, and I didn’t want schoolmates to know I was aiming for the improbable. Even after I finished my debut novel, I didn’t have the courage to ask them for support. Most of them are lawyers now. I didn’t want to bother them with my problems. But after I submitted my novel for publication to Amazon, I realized I couldn’t do this without someone’s help. I posted a link on Facebook that night and went to sleep. Maybe my best friend would buy it. Maybe my cousin.
When I woke up, I found over 50 of my schoolmates had sent me well-wishes. Some had even bought my book to show their support. I didn’t realize I knew so many supportive people, and I still don’t know what to do with the information. In the next few days, I saw Facebook shares, Twitter posts, and even banner ads for my book on their personal websites. Their efforts left me so speechless that the only thing keeping me from sending out a schoolwide email is the thought that finals are approaching and the dean would be displeased. I am really happy I wrote this book, if for no other reason than to discover the quality of my friends. I couldn’t wish for a better place to be than here among them, even if we are in the middle of exams.
I am so thankful for the clear, beautiful weather this week that will give holiday travellers safe roads.
I am also thankful for this opportunity to share my new book, which is the third in my Beach Haven series. It’s a story of love, forgiveness, and redemption, and takes place during the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. http://www.amazon.com/Their-Love-Rekindled-Beach-Haven-ebook/dp/B017DIA4FW/.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I’m thankful that I live in a Constitutional Republic where we are allowed to read and write what we believe in without fear that the current regime will be allowed to silence us without due process and that we have the protection of the Bill of Rights! My third “fictional” novel in my “Immortal Relations” series discusses the abuse of the people’s Bill of Rights by a dictatorial regime, http://amzn.com/B00G5BQS18 (-;
I’m thankful to have beaten cancer again this year and have more time with my beloved husband and our cute little grandbabies (and their parents). My first published novel, a MG fantasy, was born from the ashes of my first cancer battle and is now an audiobook narrated by an opera singer: http://www.amazon.com/Leandras-Enchanted-Flute/dp/B017HU7VP2
I’m thankful for my life, family, friends and my writing.

I’m thankful for self-publishing, which allowed me to share my books with the world. This one was written in 2004, but had to wait for technology to catch up:

I don’t even know where to begin when it comes to sharing what I’m thankful for! I’m just thankful for so many things!! I do have to say that, at the top of my list, I’m thankful for God and how much He has richly blessed me. I’m extremely thankful for my wonderful husband that I get to share life with, as well as my two young boys that are truly the best miracles anyone could ask for. The rest of my family, my friends, my cats, my church….all things I’m so, so thankful for.
My debut novel also makes the list! I’m grateful for being about to put it together and getting it out to the public. It’s called Growing Up Neighbors and is currently on sale for $0.99!! I have so much to be thankful for that it’s hard to name just a few things, but I am most grateful for my family and many dear friends, a supportive writers group, lots of books to read, the gift of writing, my pets, and freedom. My most recent release, Autumn’s Gold, includes four mini-romances that all take place in autumn. It’s available on Amazon and you can find it here: http://tinyurl.com/nb2bmr9 Happy Thanksgiving to all!
