Welcome Wednesdays – Adventures in Audio

Welcome Wednesdays – Adventures in Audio

Welcome to this week’s edition of Welcome Wednesdays!  I hope y’all are finding new authors to read, and new readers for your books with these weekly questions.

Today, let’s talk about audiobooks.  Authors, if one or more of your books is available as an audiobook, tell us about it!  Describe the book, and tell us a little about the audio version.  You can talk about your narrator, or about the process of turning it into an audiobook, or anything else related to the subject of audio.  Be sure to include a link where we can find the audiobook and listen to a sample!  If you don’t have any books out on audio, you should still participate – tell us about one of your books, and tell us who would be a good narrator for it!

I’ll begin!  The first eight Dream Series books are all available on audiobook, as well as the short story BETTY & HOWARD’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE.  I’ve really enjoyed the process of having the books recorded, and every one of my narrators has been great to work with, but on BETTY & HOWARD I didn’t go through the usual process of searching for a narrator on Amazon’s ACX system (a way to match up authors with narrators).  I knew exactly who I wanted: “Doctor Who” star Nicola Bryant.  Why her?  Because she’s who I see in my mind when I picture Betty Barnes (Sara’s mother in the Dream Series, and the star of her own short story).  Nicola was amazing to work with – she went well out of her way, even finding a studio that would open up on a Sunday for her to record the story.

That’s her  actually recording the story.

And that’s her from 1985 or so, playing Peri Brown on “Doctor Who”.

Finally, here’s a sample from the audiobook:

And now it’s your turn!

  1. Good Morning!

My book is called OUT OF THE DARKNESS INTO THE LIGHT, A MEMOIR OF SUICIDE SURVIVAL, STRENGTH AND LOVE.

I wrote my book about my true story of how I over came my suicide attempt at 13, found the love of my life 3 months later who helped save my life. My goal is to motivate and inspire others through reading my story to never take a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I plan on speaking at schools colleges and business about never giving up and creating your best life now.

My book will be published in November.

  2. Hello and Happy Wednesday!

“Stealthy Steps,” Nanostealth | Book 1, is new in audio format on Audible (http://www.audible.com/pd/B016ATKVU8/), Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B016AV8BOE), and iTunes/iBooks (https://itunes.apple.com/us/audiobook/id1047864738).

“Stealthy Steps” is a contemporary, hard-science sci-fi thriller with an unusual plot and an organic faith message. Lots of great reviews! This audio book, more than 12 hours, is a great value.

  3. Interesting and thanks for the invite! I’ve been recording a couple of my Sedona O’Hala short stories. My studio is my closet, but I do have a pro mike and pop filter and mixing equipment and all that. I’m still learning and trying to decide if I should do an audio book of Executive Lunch, the first in the Sedona Humorous mystery series! Since I see you write YA/college age, I’d like to mention my Dragons of Wendal series: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008ECZULA?ie=UTF8&tag=bearm-20 Dragons of Wendal is fantasy, but is YA and might appeal to your fans!

My books are also on Kobo, Google, Apple and B&N!

Today on the blog, I’m helping out author Michael DeAngelo, who is doing a cover poll on his YA book, Mageborn. Stop by and opine on his book cover if you fancy! http://www.BearMountainBooks.com

    Thanks again for the invite!
