It’s “A Heartwarming Christmas”

And one of the stories in it is “For the Love of a Sweet Hero” by Cheryl Harper

In my latest novella, “Making up under the Mistletoe,” Josh Fisher is a firefighter, a real hero who takes risks to help the citizens of Christmas Town in whatever way he can. Alpha’s have their attractions, but Josh is the kind of man who just gets better with age. Growing up, he was charming and cocky and now bears the brunt of the town’s long memory no matter how hard he works in the Christmas Town firehouse. His dream is to get away, to prove himself somewhere else, but his wife, Ivy, is the town’s number one fan. She’s also planned their next fifty years in step-by-step stages, all of which happen in Christmas Town. An alpha might drag her from town kicking and screaming, but Josh is determined to love her always, even if it’s from a distance.s

Driven by disappointments at work and the increasing tension at home, Josh decides to pursue his own dream and takes the test to be considered for another fire department. Loving Ivy has made him a better man. For years, he’s made sacrifices for this beautiful woman who is the best sidekick for adventure a man could imagine. But this Christmas, he’s making his own plan. Kindness, sacrifice, love for his wife, dedication to service—Josh Fisher has them all. When he makes a selfish decision, everything could fall apart…or he and Ivy could turn the corner, find the next step in their happily ever after.

Firefighters are real-life heroes. What are some of your favorite professions for romance heroes?

Cheryl Harper discovered her love for books and words as a little girl, thanks to a mother who made countless library trips and an introduction to Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House stories. Now she spends her days searching for the right words while she stares out the window and her dog snoozes beside her.

  1. Cheryl, I so enjoyed this story about Ivy and Josh who are both struggling in their own ways. Their willingness to make sacrifice for each other ultimately melted my heart. I’m not sure I have a favorite hero type, I know what I like when I read one though ( :

  2. I’m not picky either lol! After all, my hero in my novella in the collection is homeless and jobless. Well, okay, by training he’s a carpenter/wood artisan. Like with Mel’s apple farmer, I love ‘real people’ professions so bring the unusual on! 🙂
