Book Launch – “Dear Diary” by M.B. Feeney

The brilliant and loving Mich Feeney has joined the Magic of Books Promotions team. Her talents and expertise will shoot the promotional company into the stars and beyond. To help welcome her into the family, as owner of the company, I present the newest book of the author and friend she has become to me.

Born and bred in the UK, Holly is getting the chance of a lifetime—six weeks abroad. The Kings, a host family in the US, have invited her to stay with them and get a chance to experience life as an American. When she discovers that the King family includes two teenage boys, will she be glad she came or ready to hightail it back across the pond?

M. B. Feeney is an army brat who finally settled down in Birmingham, UK with her other half, two kids and a dog. Currently at university studying for her BA (Hons) in primary teaching, she procrastinates on her assignments by listening to music of all genres and trying to get ‘just one more paragraph’ written on whichever WIP is open. She is also a serious doodler and chocoholic. Writing has been her one true love ever since she could spell, and publishing is the final culmination of her hard work and ambition. Her publishing career began with two novellas, and she currently has multiple projects under way whilst Honour, a compilation of her own military based shorts, was released in November 2013 and her short novel, The One That Got Away was released February 2015. Always having something on the go can often lead to block which eventually gets dissolved by good music and an even better book.

Her main reason for writing is to not only give her readers enjoyment, but also to create a story and characters that stay with readers long after the book is finished, and possibly make someone stop and think “what if…”

I’ve only just met Mich, but I already see a lifelong friend. Her talents go far beyond writing. She’s a thankless mother of two, a loving woman to her soulmate and is always thinking of her friends before herself. Maybe that’s one of the reasons she’s gone into teaching; a chance to shape the young minds of our future writers. I’m so excited to spend time with a generous and loving personality like hers and to learn and grow from her wealth of expertise. My life will never be the same now that you have entered my life.

Hmm, a personal testimony about Mich (M.B. Feeney) . . . Where to start! Shall I do this like a Best Man speech? Yeah, why not

.

*pouts that I don’t have a glass of bubbly to toast this awesome girl*

Well, I first ‘met’ Mich quite a few years ago. I can’t remember the exact details, but knowing us two, we were probably up to no good. It was online, of course, but that didn’t stop us! We grew close as friends and then we cemented our friendship by meeting up in person. It was at a Twilight convention (don’t groan, it was a fun weekend! Lol).

Here’s what I’ve learned and loved about Mich over the years:

She is fiercely loyal to her friends and family. No matter what, she’s there. No matter what she’s going through herself, she’s there for her friends.

She has a slight music addiction (which we share). I’ve lost count on the artists we’ve talked about over the years lol.

She also adores her cowboy boots (The Boots Stay on!) I swear this addiction was brought on by Jackson Rathbone, but it’s not like I’d complain. Have you seen that man on stage? Phew!

She loves 1 Direction *coughs* Louis *coughs*

She is one hell of a kick arse author! Have you read her books? Damn, this girl can write! She sticks to normal men! Nope, there’s not a billionaire arsehole in sight, thank God!

She’s training to be a teacher. Now, props to her, because being in a classroom of 30+ kids all day . . . nah lol.

But the thing I love about Mich is this. She’s Mich. She puts on no front. What you see is what you get and that’s quite rare in an author. She hates putting herself out there. She hates pimping herself. She’ll bend over backwards for anyone, but ignores herself.

She is an awesome friend and I know that I can count on her for anything. I know she wants the publishing world to take her seriously, because she lives for books – reading and writing.

And Mich, when you get this, when you sit and read this . . . Thanks. Thanks for being such an amazing friend, an awesome author, and someone anyone can instantly love.

*raises cup of tea*

The moment I read M B Feeney’s first
story, I knew I had discovered one seriously talented author. With a
British flavour to each of her stories, M B builds strong, unique
characters that draw the reader in until they can’t help but become
invested. Her latest offering, Dear Diary (The Exchange Series Book
1) is no exception. A great start to what I anticipate will be a
fantastic series.
When she’s not
busy with writing, her studies and family commitments, M B Feeney is
100 percent committed to supporting the indie writing community. She
has not only read and reviewed hundreds, if not thousands of stories
over the years, she has always been there to lend an ear, shoulder,
or hand any way she can for countless numbers of people.
On a personal level, I’ve known M B
Feeney for well over 5 years. She is a true friend, mother, sister
and confidante… a woman who is genuine, honest, and generous to a
fault. (She is also quite partial to pear cider now and then too
lol). She also encouraged me to take my first tentative step into the
world of writing, and for that, I will be forever grateful. I can
honestly say without a single doubt in my mind, that if it weren’t
for one Ms M B Feeney, I would not have become a published author.

With stories set in England that are witty yet quirky, M.B. Feeney has a way with words that’ll suck you right into her fictional worlds. I’m proud to call her friend.

My Sexy Saturday: Waking Dream edition

My Sexy Saturday: Waking Dream edition

Welcome to the My Sexy Saturday blog hop!  The theme is “sexy delight,” and I’ve got a scene from book five of the Dream Series, WAKING DREAM….

“Grace, can you watch everyone for a couple of minutes?  I need to show Uncle Brian something.”  Without waiting for an answer, I drag Brian with me back to my personal office, lock the door, and…

“Sara!”

I don’t even know how it happened, but he’s sitting in my desk chair, a shell-shocked expression on his face.  I’m on the floor, on my knees, my hands in the midst of unbuckling his belt.  “Yeah,” I say, taking a deep breath and getting to my feet.  “This probably isn’t the time or place.”

He’s recovering his composure, and a hint of disappointment crosses his face.  “Nope.”  He’s right to be disappointed; I meant every word I said to him on the phone Christmas Eve.

“Friday,” I say, still not quite recovered myself.  “My parents can watch the kids for the night.  Deal?”

“Deal,” Brian agrees, standing up and planting a kiss on me.  “Definitely.”

I’m still shaking when we walk out of my office and back to the waiting room.  Grace gives me a look, and all I can do is sigh.  “I had a talk with her,” I whisper in Brian’s ear.  “I’ll tell you all about it later.”  In the meantime, he’s going to take the kids home while I finish out the afternoon here.

The book is available on Amazon, and also as a fantastic Audible Audiobook!

Update on the next book

Update on the next book

So I’ve been at work on the next (and last) Dream Series book.  I just finished chapter 3 last night, and I’ve also got two short pieces done (they’ll be collected with all the other pieces that fit between the books into one volume, which I think is going to be a freebie for y’all).

One of them takes place between Fever Dream and the new book, and the second piece takes us back to the aftermath of the fifth book in the series, Waking Dream.  It’s all starting to come together…

Hot for Friday: Waking Dream edition

Hot for Friday: Waking Dream edition

Welcome to this week’s stop on the Hot for Friday blog hop.  The theme this week is “hot morning after,” and I’ve got an excerpt from book five of the Dream Series, WAKING DREAM.

I open my eyes – what am I doing inside?  I was out, down the street, chasing after…

I was dreaming.  She was there again.  She was in my house, my dream.  I was – we were – “Damn her!”

My outburst stirs Brian awake.  As his eyes open, he’s got the same smile that was the last thing I saw before I fell asleep.  But when he gets a good look at me and registers what I said, it droops into a frown.

“Damn who?”

I shake my head.  “We had such a nice night!”  Nice doesn’t begin to do it justice.  “I wanted to just bask in it!  Why can’t I bask?”  I hear the whining in my voice; I know exactly how childish I sound, and right this minute I don’t care.

“You had a dream,” Brian says, and I see recognition dawn.  “She came into your dream again?”

“I felt her.  She must have realized I knew she was there, and she left.  I tried to follow her.”  I climb out of bed and head out to the hallway.  “Up there,” I point to the window.  I’d say it’s seven, maybe eight feet up.  “She came in from there.  It was open.”  It’s all there in my mind.  “I jumped up to get a handhold, and I hauled myself up there.  I went through the window.”

It’s available on Amazon, and also as an Audible Audiobook!

Sadie Pepperman is looking for a chance to escape the demands of her in-laws. With her husband’s dead, they want her to marry her brother-in-law so they can take control of her farm. Suddenly, the peace of the day is shattered when her best friend steps too far into the river. Rushing to save her, Sadie meets a handsome stranger that ignites her dormant lust. She sees her friend rescued by a steamship and backs away from Logan Jansen, only to turn her ankle.

The agonizing pain leaves Sadie with the inability to walk. Needing help, she offers Logan a place to stay if he’ll help with the chores on her farm. With his agreement, Sadie adds another problem to her list. Now, not only does she have to worry about how to bring her crops in from the field and run her farm alone but she also has to fight her attraction to Logan.

Can Sadie end her in-laws’ interference in her life,

run her farm alone,

and give love another chance?

Excerpt:

“Kirk, where are you?”
Unhappy about the interruption, Kirk Pepperman debated not answering Mary Beth Owens’ call. He’d snuck away to the barn’s upper floor to escape his parents and to have a few moments to himself.
The view outside the open loft door showed the sun drifting steadily toward the horizon. A nice cross breeze blew inside and cooled the large space. For the last couple of weeks, he’d found he enjoyed sitting up here alone, maybe because it helped him forget.
“Kirk?” Mary Beth’s voice rang from the ladder, leading to the stalls on the ground floor.
Not bothering to turn, he leaned forward and gripped his hands over his knees. The three-legged stool, where he sat, was right in front of the center pole for the barn. The position afforded him a backrest if he should want one.
The floorboards squeaked, telling him Mary Beth stood behind him. He pictured her in his head. A petite blonde, she had small breasts and appeared much younger than him. In truth, they were around the same age.
Hoping, if he remained quiet, she’d leave. He continued to stare out across his family’s property. The last days of summer and the recent harvest had turned the parched land to dust. What did this place hold for him?
He’d never ventured outside of Naked Bluff to travel or to experience another way of life. Depression filled him at his brother dying so far away from home. Now, though, Kirk understood Richard’s desire to leave.
What future could Kirk have here?
He toyed with the idea of heading off to join the Confederate army. The latest news from the returning soldiers was the south wasn’t faring too well against the Northern armies. Maybe, if he had something to fight for, he’d feel alive again.
The familiar noise of a rope flying through the air alerted him. The lasso fell over his head and circled his chest before it tightened, pinning his arms to his side. “What the…”

With a sharp tug, he fell back against the center pole and hit his head against the solid bulk. “Mary Beth, what are you doing?”

My Sexy Saturday – Fever Dream edition

My Sexy Saturday – Fever Dream edition

So it’s time for this week’s edition of My Sexy Saturday, and I’ve got an excerpt from the brand new Dream Series book, FEVER DREAM!

While I shower, I tell Brian about my dream.  He’s appalled, just as I was.  Whatever good Edgar Spinner may do as Attorney General, it doesn’t outweigh the things I’m seeing in his dreams.  He truly is a horrible man.  “He’s definitely lost my vote for governor,” I say.  Brian nearly laughs at that, but his face falls when I add a moment later, “If I get one.  I might be in state prison by then.”

“We talked about that last night,” he says with exaggerated patience.  “Whatever’s going on, we’re going to beat it.  You know that, right?”  I don’t answer, and he goes on, “Sara, don’t make me come in there.”

I do, though.  When I still don’t respond, he steps into the shower, pajamas and all, embraces me, and then he – that’s not fair!  Stop it!  I can’t – he’s tickling me, and I can’t stop myself from laughing.  I can’t speak – I can barely breathe – I hear myself, laughing uncontrollably, and then the tickling stops suddenly.  His hand moves to my stomach, and then down, down, down, and suddenly I’m not laughing anymore.  I gasp, and again, and it takes every ounce of self-control I possess not to scream loud enough to shatter every window in the house.

The next thing I know, my legs are collapsing out from under me, and Brian is slowly, carefully lowering me to sit on the floor of the shower.  I – I can’t even remember what we were talking about before he – before that.  I guess that was the point, wasn’t it?

And you can  buy FEVER DREAM all over the interwebs…
